Print, alu-dibond, or frame with passepartout and glass – what are the differences?

Print

Our photo prints are classic, professional prints of the works on high-quality photo paper.

Alu-Dibond

With the "on aluminum" options, the print is sealed onto 3 mm thick Alu-Dibond and, depending on the selected version, protected by 2 mm acrylic glass.

The works on Alu-Dibond are also available with a matte black 20 mm real wood frame and a 3 cm white motif border. Hangers are attached to the back, tailored to the format and size of your configuration.

Laminating on Aludibond gives the image stability, durability, and a modern look that harmonizes perfectly with the understated aesthetics of black and white motifs.

Passepartout frame with museum glass

If you choose a framed configuration, the print will be mounted in a matte black, 20 mm thick real wood frame and a 50 mm mount made of white museum board. The museum board has a precise bevel cut and sits flush with the photo. WhiteWall passepartouts are custom-cut for your configuration and are made of acid-free and extremely lightfast museum board with a white core.

Furthermore, the work in the frame is protected by Artglass AR from Groglass – a high-quality, anti-reflective museum glass specifically designed for the presentation of artworks. A special coating makes this glass virtually invisible and ensures an unobstructed view of the work. Metal hooks are attached to the back of the frame for hanging.

Custom Projects

How does such a project work?

Initial consultation
After your contact request, we will first clarify some details during a non-binding phone call or personal meeting.

  • If you already have concrete ideas, we will discuss the feasibility.
  • If you don't have them yet or they aren't fully developed, I will support and advise you in developing a customized concept.

Agreement on date, time, and location:
If not already agreed upon during our initial consultation, the location, date, and time for the shoot will be agreed upon.

Why is this listed separately? While this point is relatively straightforward for a studio setting, scheduling a date may be somewhat more challenging depending on the chosen alternative location, for example, as it may depend on natural lighting and weather conditions, or a filming permit or rental arrangement may be required.

Shooting:
The shoot will take place on the agreed date.

Pre-selection of images and post-processing:
Depending on the scope and duration of the shoot, several hundred images are usually taken. From these, I will make a meticulous pre-selection, which I then perform manual professional editing and post-processing on.

Provision of images:
The initially selected and edited images will be provided to you in two versions:

  • optimized for screen display at 72 dpi and 1500 px
  • optimized for high-quality printing at 300 dpi and the maximum available size

Provision of all RAW files and, if necessary, extended selection:
Tastes differ. This is even more true for something as personal as the images created here.

Therefore, along with the initially selected and edited images, all the images taken during the shoot will be provided to you in their original, unedited RAW format. This allows you to take your time to see if there are any other images beyond my selection that you would like to have edited. Editing of a selection of up to 10 additional images is always included at no extra cost. If you would like to have more than 10 additional images edited, the additional effort will be charged separately.

Where does the shoot take place?

There are virtually no limits when it comes to location selection. The shoot can take place in the Native Shutter studio setting, outdoors, in your own home, or - with the necessary filming permit - in any publicly accessible or private location.

This means there are no regional or national restrictions, and shoots can, in principle, take place worldwide. Any travel or accommodation costs incurred will be billed accordingly.

How much does a shoot cost?

Since several factors affect costs, such as

  • location (travel and/or rental fee may be required)
  • duration of the shoot
  • number of different settings
  • desired number of images
  • intention of the shoot (commercial or personal)
  • potential exclusive rights acquisition

the costs for a custom project are, as the name suggests, exactly that: custom.

As a rough guide for a basic shoot (excluding any potential travel/accommodation costs), the following applies

  • One hour shoot: €250
  • each additional 30 minutes shoot: €100

Included and not charged separately:

  • Preliminary consultation, discussions and coordination
  • Preparation
  • Set-up and dismantling of the set/equipment
  • Professional, meticulous pre-selection, post-processing and editing of images
  • Professional post-processing and editing of up to 10 additional images.

Does Native Shutter offer TFP shoots?

Yes, depending on the specific ideas and planned use of the images, I may be open to TFP shoots (Time For Pictures, unpaid shoots)

Do you consider commercial collaborations?

Yes, as long as our creative ideas are compatible, I am available for commercial collaboration.

Who owns the rights to the resulting images?

In general, the following applies:

  • The copyright lies with the photographer
  • The right to one's own image lies with the person depicted

Thus, the planned use, publication and, if applicable, exploitation of a photograph is generally based on a corresponding agreement between these two parties.

For our shoot, this means: Unless otherwise agreed,

the model

  • may use the resulting photographs for their own (also public) portfolio or personal/private purposes without restriction.
  • may not exploit or commercialize the resulting photographs without the photographer's consent.

the photographer

  • may use the resulting photographs for personal/private purposes without restriction
  • may not publish, exploit, or commercialize the resulting photographs without the model's consent, provided the model is clearly identifiable in said photographs.
  • may publish, exploit, or commercialize the resulting photographs without the model's consent, provided the model is not clearly identifiable in said photographs.

Individual deviations from this can be made at any time by mutual consent, such as:

  • exclusive acquisition of copyright by the model or the client
  • non-exclusive granting of rights between model and photographer for specific uses, exploitations, publication with or without compensation
